The Daily Astorian Joins The List Of Papers Endorsing Suzanne Bonamici!

Our choice in this race is Suzanne Bonamici. It is not just that she has been a legislator, while Cornilles has not. She has been a stand-out in Salem. Willamette Week - whose biennial legislative ratings are informed by legislators, staff and lobbyists - twice ranked Bonamici at the very top. One of WW's sources said he thought Bonamici read every bill that came before the state Senate.

State Sen. Betsy Johnson says: "I have rarely seen anyone work harder. (Bonamici) has a ferocious work ethic."

Internship/Fellows Programs

White House Fellows Program

The White House Fellows program is the nation’s most prestigious program for leadership and public service.  Founded by President Johnson in 1964 to engage emerging leaders in public service, the Fellows Program provides exceptional young men and women with first-hand experience working at the highest levels of the federal government.

Fellows spend one year in Washington, DC working in the offices of Cabinet Secretaries, White House staff, and other high level Executive Branch officials. The Fellows Program is non-partisan, highly competitive and seeks people who have distinguished themselves through their work and dedication to public service. To learn more, we invite you to view the White House Fellows video chat in which the Program Director Cindy Moelis and former Fellows Anish Mahajan and Erica Jeffries recently answered questions about the application and the Fellowship experience. Applications for the White House Fellowship can currently be found online at www.whitehouse.gov/fellows.  The deadline for completed applications is January 13, 2012.

Obama Fellowship Program

2012
Obama for America and Organizing for America are looking for bright, motivated people for our Organizing Fellowship Program -- a 12-week program that will be held three times in 2012: during the spring, the summer, and the fall.

If you're an Obama organizing fellow, you'll gain hands-on campaign experience and strengthen your leadership skills, while working in a fast-paced environment. You'll also learn firsthand about the grassroots efforts that drive this campaign -- including recruiting volunteers and developing relationships with supporters in communities across the country.

You'll also be on the front lines of the work that it will take to win on November 6th, 2012.

If you or someone you know might be interested, apply here or encourage your friends to.

Ellie Burch

The Democratic Party of Washington County, as well as the Multnomah County Democrats, have lost a wonderful friend and tireless activist.  Ellie Burch lost her brave battle with peritoneal cancer on November 7, 2011.

The family is asking that any memorials be made in her name to the Washington County
Democratic Party's Ellie Burch Legacy Scholarship for graduating high school seniors.

Oregon Food Bank Barrel in Washco Dems Office

Oregon Food Bank logo   Once again we want to thank the generous donors who bring food into the office for the OFB Barrel. Unfortunately many of our neighbors are still struggling, so the need for help continues.
On your next visit to the office, please remember to bring a donation of non-perishable food. You can help a family who might otherwise have to choose between feeding themselves and paying the rent or utility bills. And of course you can always donate money at the Oregon Food Bank website.
